Happy World Olive Tree Day!

Happy World Olive Tree Day to everyone from Crete!

Hello everyone! Long time no see, but today is World Olive Tree Day—a perfect moment to get back in touch and celebrate the tree that gives us so much. Here in Crete, olive trees are not just part of the landscape: they are part of who we are. They have been with us for centuries, providing their fruit and reminding us of the resilience needed to weather life’s storms.

Speaking of storms (or rather, the lack of them), this past year has been tough for olive oil producers everywhere. In Spain and Italy, droughts and heatwaves caused serious production shortages. Here in Crete, we’ve faced similar challenges. The heatwaves and lack of rain forced us to water much more than usual, which drove up costs. As a result, prices for olive oil have increased, and I know that’s not easy for anyone.

Despite these hurdles, I’m happy to share some good news: this year’s harvest is looking promising! It’s been a relief to see the trees bouncing back after such a rough year. However, the conditions weren’t quite right for me to produce my premium unfiltered "Archangel Michael's Early Harvest" olive oil. I know many of you love this oil, but I wasn’t confident it would meet the quality you deserve. Hopefully, next year will be better for it!

I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support. Knowing that you value and enjoy the oil I produce means the world to me. It’s more than just a product: it’s a connection between us, rooted in tradition and care.

Olive trees are more than a crop—they’re a symbol of endurance, history, and community. Here in Crete and across the Mediterranean, they remind us of the importance of respecting the land and the life it sustains. So, on this special day, let’s take a moment to appreciate the humble olive tree and everything it gives us.

Thank you again for being part of this journey with me. Here’s to a great harvest and to brighter days ahead!

All the best to all of you and have a very nice winter time,

Giorgos

... and happy name day to all the Stelioses and Stellas today! Χρόνια πολλά!
